SINGULAIR SUICIDE
The popular allergy medication Singulair, is being investigated by the FDA concerning claims of mood swings and suicidal behaviours. Four suicides have been linked to Singulair.
Singulair works by blocking chemicals in the body that are released during an allergic reaction. Physicians are being asked to closely monitor patients taking Singulair for suicidality and changes in mood and behavior.
Merck & Co Inc., has updated Singulair's label four times in the past year - the most recent update included suicidal thoughts as a side effect.
Merck claims that none of the 11,000 patients who participated in 40 clinical trials had committed suicide or reported suicidal thoughts or behavior.
