SEGWAY
Segway Inc., incooperation with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, has recalled 23,500 Segway Personal Transporters due to the hazard of falling.
A rider can fall off the transporter when it unexpectedly applies reverse torque to the wheels. This can happen when the device is tilted back by the Speed Limiter and the rider comes off and then back onto the device within a short period of time.
After receiving six reports of the personal transporter not operating properly, and resulting in riders being injured, Segway issued the recall. Consumers should stop using the Segway Personal Transporters immediately and contact Segway for a free software upgrade.
The models involved in the recall are: Segway PT i167, i170 and i180 (“i Series”) models, the p133 (“p Series”), XT (“cross-terrain transporter”), GT (“golf transporter”), e167 (“e Series”).
If you have been injured when a Segway suddenly reversed direction, please complete the form and a lawyer will review your claim at no cost.
