NUVARING BIRTH CONTROL
NuvaRing is a birth control product that is placed near the cervix where it releases a continuous dose of synthetic hormones. The vaginal ring is inserted to provide birth control for 21 days, and is then removed to allow the menstrual period to begin. A new ring is inserted after the period has completed.
The NuvaRing has been blamed for at least a dozen deaths since it entered the market in 2001, and hundreds of lawsuits have been filed against the product's maker Organon.
Young women have reported side effects including strokes, pulmonary embolism (fatal blood clots in the lungs), deep vein thrombosis and toxic shock syndrome. Several wrongful death lawsuits have been filed.
Allegedly, there is a great potential for side effects such as blood clots due to the extremely high amounts of hormones that are released into the woman’s system from the NuvaRing. Blood clots can lead to amputation and even death.
One devastated husband reports his wife died "overnight", and is suing the maker for wrongful death. His wife was only 32 years old, and had never been sick a day in her life.
