DIRECTV CANCELLATION FEE
Consumer complaints that DirecTV imposes a cancellation fee that is improperly or insufficiently disclosed, are being investigated. This fee is imposed regardless of the reason for cancellation (including for poor reception or service) and regardless of the amount of time of the subscription.
Consumers have reported being charged an early termination fee when cancelling the service after only two days, and having the funds taken directly out of their bank accounts without notification or authorization.
Another client complains that he cancelled the service even before the service was delivered to his residence - and he was still charged $400 for terminating the service.
Other customers claim to have been charged a cancellation fee after being a client for more than four years. They also complain they were never notified there would be a cancellation fee when they entered into a contract with DirecTV, and that their contracts were improperly extended without their knowledge.
Even when people terminate the service because of poor reception and inadequate service, they are charge the fee.
