BENZENE
Benzene, believed to be a carcinogen, has recently been found in some soft drinks. The FDA has found that the suspect soft drinks contain higher than five parts per billion (ppb) of benzene.
In independent testing, Consumer Reports found benzene levels of 7-30 ppb in four soft drinks: Crystal Light Sunrise Classic Orange, Fanta Orange and Pineapple sodas, and Sunkist Orange soda.
Benzene levels of 13 ppb in Coca-Cola's Vault Zero were discovered by independent lab tests.
Benzene and Butadiene are used to manufacture rubber, plastics, resins, and synthetic fibers. Long term exposure to Benzene or Butadiene has recently been linked to cancer and Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML).
Benzene or Benzol, is a clear, flammable, liquid hydrocarbon derived from petroleum and used in manufacturing a wide variety of chemical products such as DDT, detergents, insecticides, and motor fuels.
Butadiene, like benzene, is also a highly flammable, petroleum-based compound that is used to manufacture synthetic rubber, typically used for car tires.
Workers in chemical manufacturing plants that utilize Benzene or Butadiene are at highest risk for over-exposure to these Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC).
If you have injested Benzene containing soft drinks, or been exposed to Benzene in your workplace, and subsequently contracted cancer, please complete the form and your complaint will be reviewed by a lawyer at no cost to you.
